Fantasy Dota is a game that you can play with up to nine of your friends, where each of you forms teams made up of pro players to compete against each other, earning points for your team based on how each of your pro players performs in tournament matches.
Once one of your friends has created a Fantasy League, you can join their Fantasy League by creating a Fantasy Team. Then you'll recruit pro players onto your team through a live draft, alongside all the other members of your Fantasy League. Once your teams are set, you'll play head-to-head against one of the other member each week, with players earning wins and losses based the total points that their pro players have earned.
Fantasy Season 2 starts September 29th and will be running through December 14th.

Q. Can I create more than one Fantasy League?
Yes, you can create any number of Fantasy Leagues by purchasing and using Fantasy Tickets.
Q. Can I create more than one Fantasy Team?
You can create one Fantasy Team per Fantasy League, but you can participate in any number of Fantasy Leagues.
Q. How many members can be in a Fantasy League?
You can have up to ten members in a Fantasy League. Each will have their own team.
Q. What if I have an odd number of friends who want to play?
That’s fine! One rotating team each week will get a Bye (basically a free win).
Q. What if two Fantasy Teams have the same number of wins? Are they tied?
Ties are broken first by the number of losses, and then by the total number of points scored in the season.
Q. How long does a head-to-head matchup last? When does it end?
Matchups last one week, starting Monday and ending Sunday night at midnight GMT. At that point, wins and losses are assigned for that week, and the next week’s matchups begin.
Q. How much does joining or creating a Fantasy League Cost?
Tickets to join an existing Fantasy League or create a new one are $1.99 (USD).
Q. If the commissioner kicks me from a Fantasy League that I've spent a ticket to join, do I get my ticket back?
Yes, if you're kicked from a Fantasy League, your ticket is automatically refunded.
Q. What happens if I miss my Fantasy League’s live draft?
The draft system will automatically pick players for you. Each time it is your turn to pick, It will select the highest average-scoring player that is still available and fits an open slot on your team.
Q. If the season has already started, can I still play?
Yes! Your league will start scoring points as soon as your draft is completed, and you'll play out any remaining matchups until the season finishes on December 14th.
Q. If a Fantasy League has already had their draft, can I still join it?
No, once the Fantasy League's draft has started, all teams and settings are locked. Commissioners should be sure that everyone has had a chance to join before their scheduled draft begins.
Q. Will there be a Season 3?
Yes, we'll be starting a Season 3 sometime after the completion of Season 2.
Q. What if I have a problem with my Fantasy League?
We have a Fantasy-specific dev forum where you can ask questions, discuss strategy, or report bugs.
Q. Can a player be owned by more than one Fantasy Team?
No, players are exclusively owned by a single team.
Q. What does a player being "Core" or "Support" mean?
Each player has selected a role, based on the role they feel they generally play in pro matches. Players that play mid, off-lane, or carry are grouped under "Core." Players that take more of a support role are classified as "Support."
Q. How many players can I have on my team?
You can have 8 players on your team. These 8 slots are divided into types.

Q. What players can I put in each slot type?
"Core" and "Support" slots only accept Core and Support players, respectively. "Any" or "Bench" slots can contain players of any role. Note that while a player is on a Bench slot, they will not score points for their team. Any players in invalid slots (due to things like trades or role changes) score no points.
Q. How often can I adjust my roster?
You can set your Active Roster for each individual day. Any day you don’t adjust your Active Roster, the settings in place on the previous day will automatically carry over.
Q. When is a player locked into a slot?
Players are locked into slots when they first start scoring points for the day. Prior to that they may be freely swapped between slots.
Q. How can I see how players have done in the past?
The Player tab in the Fantasy section in the Community tab lists all players and their average stats over the last 13 weeks. You can also view this information on the web interface.
Q. How are players scored?
Q. Does a player's role affect their scoring?
No, all players are scored based on the same criteria.
Q. Do all matches played by a player count?
Matches played in Premium and Professional matches count towards players' scores. By default, Premium tournaments count for 100% points and Professional Tournaments count for 25% points.
Q. Do players get an additional game's worth of points if a best-of-three series goes to a third game?
In a best-of-three series, each player earns points only for their two highest-scoring games of the series. Similarly, in a best-of-five, each player's top three games will count.
Q. Do all players have the same scoring criteria?
Yes, all players, regardless of role, are scored based on the same criteria.
Q. Do players in Bench slots earn points?
No, while a player is on your Bench, they do not earn points towards weekly or daily point totals.
Q. If I put a player into a Bench slot, will they lose previously-earned points?
No, once a player has earned points, they cannot be lost.
Q. Does it matter if players win or lose their matches?
No, scoring is entirely based on the criteria listed above. Whether they win or lose their match is not directly scored, though players that win matches will tend to earn more points.
Q. When are scores updated?
Scores update live as matches are played.
Q. If a stand-in plays for one of my players, do I get points for the stand-in?
No, all scores are calculated on an individual player basis.
Q. If my player plays as a stand-in for another team, do I get points for that?
No, players who are stand-ins do not earn any fantasy points.
Q. Can I remove a player from my team?
Yes, you can request to drop a player and pick up another that no other Fantasy Team owns (a "free agent"). These requests are all processed nightly (at midnight GMT). If multiple Fantasy Teams all attempt to pick up the same Pro Player, priority is given to the lowest-ranked Fantasy Team.
Q. Can I drop and pick up more than one player at a time?
No, you can only have one outstanding drop/add request.
Q. Can I trade players with another Fantasy Team?
Trading players directly between Fantasy Teams is not yet supported.
Q. Who is eligible for rewards?
In a league with 6 or more players, first, second, and third places receive rewards. In a league with 4 or 5 players, first and second places receive rewards. In a leagues with 2 or 3 players, first place receives rewards. Leagues with only 1 player do not receive rewards.
Q. When are rewards delivered?
They are delivered shortly after the completion of Season 2, during the week of December 15th.
Q. Can I keep the teleport effect reward forever?
This reward is a limited-lifetime item which will expire when the following fantasy season (Season 3) finishes.
